Child Welfare Training
The Child Welfare Training Programs at ASU are a collaborative effort between Arizona State University, School of Social Work and the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Children, Youth, and Families. They are funded by the Child Welfare Field Education and Student Support Project, a Title IV-E grant.
The mission of the programs is to prepare social work students to be effective and competent child welfare workers who are able to promote the well-being of the children and families involved in the public child welfare system.
Students involved in the programs receive financial assistance while pursuing their degrees in social work. In return, students committ to work for Arizona's Child Protective Services upon graduation. There are financial assistance programs for both BSW and MSW students.
The financial assistance represents an investment in the CPS workforce and in the vulnerable families of Arizona. All applicants to the programs are encouraged to review the information under the working for CPS tab and watch the realistic job preview before submitting their applications to ensure that their work interests and personality traits are a good fit for the rewarding and challenging work of public child welfare.
