Scholarships offered by the School of Social Work are:

  • The Rita Rily Gross Scholarship
    In memory of Rita Rily Gross, a person intensely concerned about the welfare of underprivileged children.
    Awarded to full and part-time social work students enrolled in the BSW or MSW program who demonstrate both financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or above. The students must have as a career goal and interest in working with children.
    This endowment was established to provide tuition and book assistance and may  be awarded to one student for one year or two students for a semester.
  • The Edith Block Memorial Scholarship
    In memory of Edith Kolodny Block, an MSW graduate of the School of Social Work who had a great sense of humor, a zest for life and who was strongly committed to family counseling.
    Awarded to full and part-time social work students enrolled in the BSW or MSW program who demonstrate both financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or above. 
    This endowment was established to provide tuition and book assistance and may  be awarded to one student for one year or two students for a semester.
  • Dennis Knapp Fellowship
    Established by Motorola, Inc. in memory of former Employee Assistance Program Director, Dennis Knapp
    Awarded to full time and part-time social work students enrolled in the MSW program who demonstrate both financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or above. The students must have an interest in one of the following career fields: case management, grief treatment and/or referral work, in such settings as employee assistance programs, agencies providing mental health and/or substance abuse services or crisis-focused programs. 
    This fellowship was established to provide tuition and book assistance.
  • Cesar Chavez Scholarship
    In memory of Cesar E. Chavez, humanitarian and civil rights activist who inspired others to advocate for social justice and civil rights for the disadvantaged and marginalized of our society.
    Awarded to MSW students (part time or full time) enrolled in the Graduate Certificate
    in Latino Cultural Competency and have completed six credits in the program with a GPA of 3.0 in all graduate coursework.

    Cesar Chavez Scholarship Application
  • Kolski-Daniels School of Social Work Scholarship
    Awarded to full and part-time, continuing social work students enrolled in the MSW program with a specialization in Child Protective Services who demonstrate both financial need and a GPA of 3.0.  The recipient of the award must also demonstrate at least a year of work experience and/or volunteer work in social work. 
    Given in memory of Steven Kolski, foster child and adopted son of Colleen Kolski-Daniels.  Steven died in friendly fire in the service of his country and his mother wishes to honor his memory by supporting social work students who are interested in child protective services.
