MSW Child Welfare Curriculum

The Child Welfare Curriculum follows the 60 credit MSW curriculum (there are no additional courses required). These are the basic requirements:

 
  • Electives must be chosen from among those approved as Child Welfare Electives
  • One field placement is at a Child Welfare Training Unit, and one field placement is at a private child welfare agency (PAC students must complete their placement in a Child Welfare Training Unit during their first year).
  • All students in the Advanced Direct Practice (ADP) Concentration must be in the Public Child Welfare Concentration.  
  • All students in the Planning, Administration and Community (PAC) Concentration must complete their Child Welfare Training Unit placement during their first year and must take ADP classes in the Public Child Welfare Specialization as their 3 electives.   
  • All papers and research assignments, to the extent possible, are related to child welfare topics
