Training Units

Child Welfare Training Units

The Child Welfare Training Project coordinates three Child Welfare Training Units which are located within Child Protective Services. These units are responsible for both working active Child Protective Services cases and for the training of students in best practice models. Field placements (internships) are open to all MSW and BSW students, providing there is space available. All stipend students must complete one of their field placements in a Training Unit. The Training Units are located in Phoenix, Tempe and Tucson.

Advantages of a Field Placement in a Training Unit:

  • A training curriculum is followed
  • The activities of the unit are geared toward student learning
  • The supervisors and case managers are allotted time to spend with students
  • One-on-one supervision
